The SNUG committee is proud to announce the fourth GOLD sponsor for the 2025 SNUG workshop being held in Tauranga next week.
TSL is our fourth confirmed GOLD sponsor. TSL is sponsoring the Tech Tour on Wednesday afternoon.
If you haven't purchased tickets to the SNUG workshop in Tauranga next week, get them here now.
As returning Gold Sponsors of SNUG, I'm sure most of you know who TSL are, but here are a few words about them.
Traffic Systems Limited (TSL)
Smart, Safe, Innovative Transport Solutions for New Zealand
For over 20 years, Traffic Systems Limited (TSL) has been at the forefront of New Zealand’s traffic systems and smart transport technology.
We are a true one-stop-shop, combining civil works, installation, maintenance, and advanced technology to deliver safe, efficient, and future-ready transport networks.
🌐 Global Partnerships, Local Delivery
Through exclusive partnerships with leading international suppliers, TSL brings world-class solutions to New Zealand, including:
- Aldridge Traffic Controllers (ATC) TCS4 – LV and ELV traffic signal controllers featuring advanced safety functions and the 5900 VC6.2 processor (TYPE approved by TfNSW and VicRoads). Combined with SCATS 6.9.4, these controllers unleash the full potential of modern signal management.
- Braums “Dim by Wire” (DBW) Lanterns – Available in ELV and 230V, delivering outstanding optical clarity, energy efficiency, and enhanced road safety.
- Smartmicro Radar – The next generation of traffic detection. Offering pedestrian, cyclist, and vehicle detection, classification, and data capture, these radars are now mainstream across NZ, with 150+ installations in the last three years.
🚦 Smartmicro in Action
- Traffic Monitoring Solutions – In partnership with Smart City Ltd, TSL combines Smartmicro radar with SmartTraf platforms for end-to-end monitoring. Current deployments include the Eastern Busway Alliance (EBA), New Plymouth, Auckland, and Napier.
- Temporary Loop Replacement – Radars provide a cost-effective, non-invasive alternative to loops in challenging environments like motorway on/off ramps. Easily mounted on existing poles and powered via Comhub, they enable rapid deployment without road cuts, resurfacing, or disruption disruption to road users. This makes them ideal for short-term projects, staged works, or sites where access windows are limited.
- Construction Site Innovation On projects such as the Eastern Busway Alliance in Auckland, TSL deployed radar to dynamically manage traffic signals in live construction environments. Intersections could be widened, lanes shifted, and staging re-sequenced — without compromising safety or network performance. During night works where lanes were frequently shifted, radar detection automatically adapted to new alignments without cutting loops or re-wiring temporary infrastructure.
🔧 Recent Innovations
- ELV Conversion Kits – TSL’s exclusive solution to upgrade 230V intersections to ELV overnight, with minimal disruption and improved long-term safety.
- Nationwide UPS Installations – TSL’s own UPS technology ensures resilience, remote monitoring, and fibre-linked connectivity across networks.
- Smart City Integration – Delivering real-time, data-driven insights through expanded fibre networks, radar monitoring, and analytics platforms in partnership with councils and agencies.
🤝 Partnering for the Future
We welcome the opportunity to work with you to build, upgrade, and maintain smart, safe signal networks. Whether your priority is:
- Optimising traffic flow
- Improving detection & data collection
- Reducing whole-of-life costs
…TSL has the technology, experience, and people to deliver.
📍 Come and meet us at SNUG – and let’s shape the future of NZ’s transport networks together.
Our sponsors help enable our workshop, and the other work we do. Please remember to support them where you can.
From the SNUG Chair John Kinghorn, and the rest of the SNUG committee, we look forward to seeing you in Tauranga next week.
