First Gold Sponsor Named

 July 30, 2018

The SNUG committee is proud to announce the first GOLD sponsor for the 2018 two-day SNUG workshop being held in Hamilton in November.

HMI is our first confirmed GOLD sponsor.

We are securing our remaining sponsors at present, and will be announcing them over the coming days and weeks.

I'm sure most of you know who HMI are, but here are a few words about them.

HMI Technologies has been innovating, developing and leading the ITS equipment manufacturing and supply industry in New Zealand for over 15 years and doing the same in Australia since 2014.
With its headquartered in Auckland New Zealand, and offices in Australia and China, HMI currently employs 60 staff internationally and is actively involved in the wider global ITS industry via active participation in international ITS standards committees (TC204) with representatives that sit on the ITS World Congress Board of Directors.

The focus of the business has predominantly been on the design, manufacture and delivery of ITS and traffic management related equipment including variable message signs, speed activated school zone signs, motorway signalling, telecommunications systems, Bluetooth traffic monitoring stations and integrated location services solutions.
HMI’s electronic variable message signs are highly visible across all New Zealand local roads and state highway networks, and have a high profile on key routes and roading projects in Melbourne, Sydney and Taiwan.

The integration of ITS systems supplied by HMI into mainstream traffic management outcomes and client ICT requirements is handled in house leveraging expertise in ITS communications protocols and standards such as NTCIP.

HMI was the first in NZ to implement (IOT) for remote management of signs in 2012, and now the system is responsible of managing several hundreds of school zone signs and SID all around the country, the HMI control room located in Auckland remotely manages and supervises the daily operation of more than 900 devices comprising variable message signs, Bluetooth vehicle detectors and even products supplied by others. This is an important part of HMI’s service capability and is used to coordinate maintenance teams who are contracted to provide support services for signage in the field.

HMI’s research and development and business development teams are some of Asia Pacific's most knowledgeable, capable of not only designing innovative solutions to keep pace with tomorrow’s transport needs, but also able to provide clients with sound advice and guidance on customised solutions to meet their requirements.

HMI R&D now has an evolutionary roadmap for ITS developments which includes placing advanced AI (Artificial Intelligent) supported detection and analysis technologies in our products, assuring that the next generation of ITS equipment produced will be multifunctional traffic management points of presence and not merely electronic signage.

HMI has offices in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch as well as Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, with its bespoke manufacturing located at a wholly HMI owned factory based in China.

Our sponsors help enable our workshop, and the other work we do. Please remember to support them where you can.

From the SNUG Chair Jeff Greenough, the rest of the SNUG committee, thank you for keeping in touch.
